The Gophers hockey pipeline of recruits might include a powerful slapshot like the one that made Happy Gilmore famous. Wayzata standout Colin Schmidt posted a photo on Twitter earlier this week standing behind a shattered glass panel.

"Worked on our slapshots a little to long today @lskillsclinics #results," Schmidt Tweeted along with the photo.

Fans of the movie "Happy Gilmore" likely remember the scene when Adam Sandler's character unloads his powerful slapshot and shatters the glass.

The coaches watching the game comment that Gilmore is not a real strong skater or puck-handler, but proclaim "What a shot!"

Sandler responds with the famous line "Is that goal regulation size or what?!"

Schmidt doesn't have a problem finding the goal, though. He led the Trojans with 13 goals and totaled 26 points last season while helping lead them to a Class 2A state championship. Schmidt is listed by Elite Prospects as a large 6-foot-5, 216 pounds. He verbally committed to the Gophers in May.

The remaining schedule is favorable, but their hopes of a late-season run were dulled by a home loss to the Terrapins.
