Preview: The No. 1 Gophers moved to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the fourth time under coach Hugh McCutcheon with Friday's sweep of North Dakota. They have won 11 matches in a row and will be trying to reach the Sweet 16 for the eighth time in program history. Hawaii, ranked 12th, earned a place in the second round with a hard-fought, five-set victory over USC. The Rainbow Wahine, who also have won 11 matches in a row, took the first two sets and dropped the next two before winning their first five-set match since Oct. 8. The Gophers defeated Hawaii 3-1 in the regional final of last year's NCAA tournament to reach the Final Four.

Players to watch: The Gophers' Sarah Wilhite had a team-high 17 kills in Friday's first-round victory, moving her season total to 335. Hawaii's Nikki Taylor, a senior opposite who was the Big West Conference player of the year, had 23 kills and 10 digs Friday. She has 386 kills this season. McKenna Granato (282 kills) and Emily Maglio (231) also are dangerous hitters.

Numbers: The Gophers are 14-0 this season at the Sports Pavilion. ... Hawaii is in the NCAA tournament for the 24th consecutive year and is coached by Dave Shoji, who is in his 42nd season.
