The Gophers' Jon Lehman, a senior from Coon Rapids, finished 10th in the men's hammer throw Thursday at the NCAA Division I outdoor track and field championships in Eugene, Ore. That earned him second-team All-America honors.
Lehman's best throw was 210 feet, 10 inches.
John Simons, a senior from Hartland, Wis., qualified for the men's 1,500-meter finals for the second time in his career after clocking a 3:41.65 in the semifinals.
The Gophers' 4x400 women's relay team did not advance out of the semifinals.
On Friday, Wally Ellenson will compete in the high jump and Dominique Howard in the discus.
U Hall of Famers
Quincy Lewis, Pat Micheletti, Laura Halldorson and 10 others will be inducted into the University of Minnesota's Hall of Fame on Oct. 9.
Lewis was a key player on the 1997 Final Four men's basketball team and finished his career sixth on the Gophers' all-time scoring list. Micheletti has the second-most goals in program history, and Halldorson was the first coach of the women's hockey team.
Brischke qualifies
Craig Brischke of Forest Lake qualified for the U.S. Senior Open with a 1-over-par 73 during sectional qualifying at Somerby Golf Club in Byron, Minn.
