Three goaltenders on college hockey teams in the state are among the candidates for the inaugural Mike Richter Award, which honors the top Division I goalie.

Adam Wilcox of the Gophers, Ryan Faragher of St. Cloud State and Aaron Crandall of Minnesota Duluth were among 18 candidates announced Friday by Let's Play Hockey and the Herb Brooks Foundation.

Wilcox, a sophomore, has 20 wins this season going into this weekend, the third most in the nation. He also ranks seventh nationally in goals-against average (1.97) and 10th in save percentage (.931).

Faragher, a junior, has 16 wins this season; Crandall, a senior, has 11.

The award will be presented at the Frozen Four next month in Philadelphia.
