Gophers-Ferris State men's hockey series preview

Preview: The Gophers (5-6-4) are playing for the first time in three weeks. On Dec. 8, the Gophers won at Michigan, 4-3, for their first victory in five games. Ferris State (4-13-1) brings a 10-game winless (0-9-1) streak into the game. The Bulldogs were swept at Northern Michigan on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15. The Bulldogs' last victory was 4-1 over Michigan State on Nov. 3. Both the Gophers and Bulldogs have been swept by MSU Mankato and split with Michigan State this season. The teams last played on Jan. 1, 2011 when they tied.

Players to watch: A pair of defensemen — freshman Cooper Zech (three goals, 12 assists) and junior Nate Kallen (two goals, 12 assists), lead the Bulldogs in scoring . Junior F Rem Pitlick leads the Gophers with 14 points (seven goals, seven assists).

Numbers: The Gophers lead the series 3-1-1. Ferris State is 0-8 on the road this season.
