The Gophers' Destiny Pitts was named Big Ten freshman of the week in women's basketball on Monday, the sixth time this season she has earned the honor.

Pitts' total is one behind the program record held by Amanda Zahui B., who earned seven freshman of the week honors in 2013-14.

Pitts averaged 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week for the Gophers (19-6, 8-4 Big Ten). She finished with 18 points, including 16 in the first half, and seven rebounds in a 78-74 victory at Purdue. Sunday, she had 17 points, seven rebounds and two steals in a 101-68 victory over Penn State at Williams Arena.

In addition, the Gophers' Kenisha Bell earned honor roll recognition for the fourth time, after averaging 18.5 points, 9.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in the two victories.

The Gophers, in fourth place in the Big Ten, play host to No. 23 Michigan and No. 10 Maryland this week.
