DULUTH – The line of Dani Cameranesi, Kelly Pannek and Kate Schipper combined for six points Saturday in leading the third-ranked Gophers to a 6-2 victory over Minnesota Duluth and a weekend sweep of the Bulldogs at Amsoil Arena.
Joining Pannek and Schipper on a line for the first full game this season, Cameranesi led all players with three points, with two goals and one assist. Schipper assisted on both of Cameranesi’s goals. Amanda Kessel contributed her first goal of the season.
“It was a good win here on the road in our last road trip of the regular season,” coach Brad Frost said. “We’re excited to be able to come out with the three points. I thought we played really solid, pretty clean for the majority of the night.”
The Gophers (27-3-1, 22-3-1 WCHA) held the Bulldogs (12-19-1, 9-16-1) scoreless on three power-play opportunities while going 1-for-1 with the man-advantage.
The Gophers were a perfect 4-for-4 on the power play in the series after going 3-for-3 in Friday’s 7-3 victory.
“Our power play was really good again, and our penalty kill was excellent and got tested quite a bit early in the game there,” Frost said. “It was good to see Kessel get her first goal in 2½ years. Overall, I’m really happy with the way we played tonight and this weekend."
