A farm worker in northwestern Goodhue County got caught in a conveyor belt and was killed, authorities said Tuesday morning.

Robert Fuerte-Chavelas, 28, died Saturday after his jacket became stuck on the equipment at Ries Farms in Welch Township, the County Sheriff's Office said.

Fuerte-Chavelas lived in a bunkhouse at the farm and was from the Red Wing area, the Sheriff's Office said.

Ries Farms is a three-generation family owned and operated business since 1960. Along with composting residential and commercial yard waste, the company sells a host of sand and gravel products.
