At the 36 Lyn Refuel Station on 36th and Lyndale in south Minneapolis, plug-in electric vehicle advocates on Sunday will begin a 24-hour effort to charge 100 EVs in a row and set the first world record. Fran Crotty and Matthew Blackler charged an electric vehicle (EV) at the 36 Lyn Refuel Station at E. 36th Street and Lyndale Avenue S. in Minneapolis Friday. They were demonstrating the speed of direct-current charging and promoting the #24EVChallenge, a 24-hour effort Sunday to set a Guinness world record for charging cars. The marathon begins at the station at 2 p.m. Sunday and they hope to charge 100 EVs in a row, for 15 minutes each. Blackler founded ZEF Energy, a co-sponsor of the event.
