The state of Georgia has been a go-to recruiting spot for the Gophers at running back in recent years, and on Tuesday night, they took a step toward adding another one.
Georgia RB Nolan Edmonds commits to Gophers, moving class into Top 15 in national rankings
Nolan Edmonds became the latest Georgia running back to commit to Minnesota, which already boasts Rodney Smith and Shannon Brooks.
Nolan Edmonds, a consensus three-star recruit from Alpharetta, Ga., gave the Gophers a verbal commitment. The 5-11, 195-pound Edmonds also had reported offers from Illinois, Purdue, Boston College, Syracuse and California, among others.
Edmonds is the Gophers sixth commitment for the Class of 2018. Their top two running backs now are juniors from Georgia -- Rodney Smith (Jonesboro Mundy's Mill) and Shannon Brooks (Pickens).
The Edmonds commitment lifted the Gophers into the Top 15 in the 247Sports Composite national rankings.
Edmonds made his announcement on Twitter:
Suggestions include a strong nomination for Colorado State's Niko Medved and finding more NIL money for the program no matter who is hired.
