Today's Blu-ray news from Warner Home Video features none other than one of our favorite native Minnesotans, Frances Gumm -- whom the world would come to know and love as Judy Garland. On June 22, Warner will release a digitally restored version of the 176-minute reconstruction of Garland's 1954 comeback, A Star Is Born. The two-disc
Blu-ray ($35) will come housed in a 40-page book with photos and essays, while the DVD ($21) will come in a two-disc deluxe set.
"Our colleagues at MPI [Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging] have not only done a phenomenal job in restoring the impeccable visual style of this great motion picture, but through their work, they have also ensured the survival of this cinematic treasure," said George Feltenstein, the exec who oversees catalog titles at Warner Home Video. "The unparalleled superiority of Blu-ray combined with one of the best musical dramas ever made, come together to create an unforgettable home entertainment experience that is now preserved for the ages."
