Preview: The Celtics made big news Thursday evening when they traded away star guard Rajon Rondo before he could walk away as a free agent this summer. They agreed to send him and Dwight Powell to Dallas for Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, a 2015 first-round pick and future second-rounder. Think it'll make a difference for the 9-14 Celtics? Rondo delivered a 13-point, 15-assist, seven-rebound game in Wednesday's 109-92 home victory over Orlando. … Wolves point guard Mo Williams did not practice Thursday in Boston. Instead, he went and sought a second opinion on a back injury that caused him to miss six consecutive before he played 14-plus minutes in Washington on Tuesday, when his back flared up again. He said after that game that he needs to get the matter "rectified."

Players to watch: Boston guard Avery Bradley will have to do more now with Rondo gone. Bradley is averaging 12.7 points and one assist a game and scored a season-high 27 points in last year's game against the Wolves at TD Garden. … Celtics big man Tyler Zeller is averaging 11.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 rebounds and one block in 24.7 minutes since he was moved into the starting lineup nine games ago.

Injuries: Wolves G Ricky Rubio (sprained ankle), G Kevin Martin (wrist surgery), C Nikola Pekovic (ankle) and C Ronny Turiaf (hip surgery) are out. Williams and Anthony Bennett are questionable. Celtics G Marcus Smart (Achilles strain), F James Young (shoulder) and G Marcus Thornton (calf strain) are out.

It took a lot of work for the Wolves to basically get back to where they started, but they’re here now.
