U women’s gameday

8 P.M. VS. NEBRASKA • WIlLIAMS ARENA • BTN, 1500 AM

Preview: The game is a good measuring stick to see exactly where the Gophers (11-1) are under first-year coach Marlene Stollings. Nebraska is expected to be one of the top three teams in the Big Ten and to make the NCAA tournament field. The Cornhuskers (10-1) have won the past four meetings between the two schools.

Players to watch: Two of the conference’s best, Cornhuskers junior guard Rachel Theriot and Gophers sophomore center Amanda Zahui B., will look to take advantage of mismatches. Theriot is averaging 18.3 points while shooting better than 50 percent from the floor and three-point range. Zahui is averaging a double-double (15.6 points and 10.5 rebounds) and will look to use her 3-inch height advantage.

Numbers: Nebraska’s starting unit — Theriot, Emily Cady, Hailie Sample, Tear’a Laudermill and Brandi Jeffery — has a combined 355 starts. They are one of the nation’s most experienced starting groups. The five have also combined to play in 511 games.

Injuries: None bigger than that of Gophers guard Rachel Banham. She was averaging 20 points, 5.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds before a season-ending injury at North Dakota.
