Preview: The Heat – 21-27 after Tuesday's 108-91 loss at Detroit – is holding onto one of the East's final playoff spots as it arrives at Target Center for its only visit this season. ...Star guard Dwyane Wade missed his third consecutive game Tuesday because of a hamstring injury. …The Heat has started 19 different starting lineups this season after using 21 different all last season. Every player except newly signed Tyler Johnson has started at least one game. …The Heat won the season's first meeting between the teams 102-92 in Miami on Nov. 8. That's the night after Wolves G Ricky Rubio severely sprained his ankle at Orlando. The Heat has won eight of the last nine meetings between the teams.

Player to watch: Entering Tuesday's game, free-agent signee Hassan Whiteside averaged 13.6 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.3 blocks in the 12 games he had played this season. He shot 67 percent (63-for-94) from the floor in January, second only to Shaquille O'Neal among Heat players. He shot 68 percent in April 2006. The Wolves worked the former second-round pick in September 2012 but didn't sign him.

Injuries: Wolves G Mo Williams fell hard on his hurting hip late in Monday's loss at Dallas but is listed as probable. G Zach LaVine (sprained ankle) is listed as questionable but said Monday night that he hopes to play. F Shabazz Muhammad (oblique strain) and F Robbie Hummel (broken hand) are out. The Heat listed Wade and F Josh McRoberts (knee surgery) as out for Tuesday's game.
