Gophers women’s gameday

6 P.M. at Indiana • Assembly Hall • BTN-plus, 88.5 FM

Gophers (18-7, 10-4 Big Ten): Monday’s 78-76 victory over Iowa, which ended with Rachel Banham’s buzzer-beating three-pointer, extended the Gophers’ winning streak to four games and gave them sole possession of third place in the Big Ten. The Gophers have won eight of their past nine games; the last time they put together an identical string in league play was in 2006. They are averaging 83 points per game to rank fifth in the nation and third in the Big Ten. With 10 three-pointers against Iowa, the Gophers reached 224 for the season, breaking the program record of 214 set last year. Banham has hit 86 of those and needs eight more to break her school single-season record of 93 set in 2013-14. The senior guard ranks third in the country in scoring (26.4 points per game) and in three-pointers made per game (3.44). The Gophers are 9-2 in their past 11 games against Indiana, with both losses coming in overtime. They defeated the Hoosiers 78-76 at Williams Arena last month.

Indiana (17-9, 9-5): The Hoosiers have been one of the surprise teams in the Big Ten — and they enter Thursday’s game on a hot streak, with four consecutive victories. They are 12-0 at Assembly Hall this season, the best home start in program history, and are the only Big Ten team with a perfect record at home. Its nine Big Ten victories are its most since the 2008-09 season. Sophomore G Tyra Buss has scored in double figures in 30 consecutive games and leads the Hoosiers with 18.8 points per game. Sophomore F Amanda Cahill has eight double-doubles this season and averages 14.6 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game.
