Gophers at a glance: After leading by nine at halftime Wednesday against St. John's, the mental mistakes the Gophers (3-2) had made all game caught up with them. The Gophers were called for 24 fouls, turned the ball over 20 times and missed all eight of their second-half three-point attempts in a 70-61 loss. Nate Mason scored 15 points off the bench, but the five starters combined for only 39 points. Meanwhile, the Red Storm shot only 39.7 percent from the floor but beat the Gophers in the paint (34-22), on the fast break (12-4), on second chances (19-6) and off turnovers (24-10).

Georgia at a glance: Guard Charles Mann went off for 23 points on Wednesday night, but it wasn't nearly enough against No. 10 Gonzaga. The Zags rolled over Georgia 88-76, sending the Bulldogs (3-2) to a consolation game against the Gophers. The Bulldogs shot only 25 percent (4-for-16) from three-point range while managing only 29 rebounds to Gonzaga's 35 in a game where a total of 54 fouls were called (27 on both sides), including a technical on Georgia coach Mark Fox for yelling at an official.
