Badgers are coming off rare home loss

Preview: The No. 21 Gophers (9-1, 2-1 Big Ten) carry a three-game winning streak into Madison to play at No. 6 Wisconsin (8-2, 2-1), the only regular-season meeting between the border rivals this season. Pitino is coming off his first victory over Michigan State at home during his tenure with the Gophers, who won 81-56 against the No. 17 Spartans on Monday. On the same night, the Badgers saw their 10-game conference win streak snapped in a 70-64 loss to Maryland at the Kohl Center. A 15-game home win streak also ended, dating to last season. Wisconsin's only other loss this season was 67-65 at Marquette on a buzzer-beater on Dec. 4.

Players to watch: Gophers junior Liam Robbins had his second straight 18-point performance in Monday's win over Michigan State, including 12 points in the first half. Senior guard D'Mitrik Trice leads the Badgers with 14.2 points and 3.2 assists per game. In his past two games, he scored 29 points vs. Michigan State and 25 points vs. Maryland. He shot a combined 15-for-29 from the field, 7-for-13 from three-point range and 17-for-22 from the foul line.

Numbers: The Gophers are 4-14 against the Badgers since 2010, which includes a 70-52 win at home last season. Their only win in Madison during that stretch came in a 59-52 decision on Jan. 3, 2019.
