Gameday: Gophers women vs. Nebraska

February 3, 2013 at 5:26AM

Gophers at a glance: It's safe to say Rachel Banham is out of her shooting slump. Banham, the Big Ten's leading scorer at 21.5 ppg, shot just 31.6 percent from the field in her first six conference games. But the sophomore guard went 25-for-42 (59.5 percent) from the field in her past two games against Illinois and Michigan, combining for 69 points. ... Minnesota (14-8, 3-5) defeated Michigan 82-67 on Thursday, ending a four-game losing streak. ... The Gophers are second in the Big Ten in scoring (72.6 ppg).

Nebraska at a glance: The Huskers (15-6, 5-3) started the season ranked No. 18 and climbed as high as No. 15 but are currently unranked. They defeated the Gophers 84-63 at Williams Arena on Jan. 20, starting a three-game winning streak that has included victories over Michigan State and Ohio State. Leading scorer Jordan Hooper (18.7 ppg) has been particularly good during that streak, averaging 23.3 points and making nearly 50 percent of her field goals.

The remaining schedule is favorable, but their hopes of a late-season run were dulled by a home loss to the Terrapins.
