Eileen Fisher opened its first stand-alone store in Minnesota at Galleria in Edina on Thursday in the space formerly occupied by Ataz and Oilily.

The 2,300 square foot store is Eileen Fisher's 53rd location, and will carry the company's first jewelry collection.

Eileen Fisher is the latest upscale designer to open doors at Galleria, following Louis Vuitton's arrival this spring.

The press release quotes Eileen Fisher, who is from Des Plaines, Ill., as saying she has been shaped by her Midwestern upbringing.

"Midwesterners understand what it means to be practical while having good value," the designer said in the release. "They like things that feel current and modern but they don't pick up on every trend. I think our collection does that, allows women to feel on trend, yet allows them to know they can wear our garment for years to come and still look great."

(Value clearly means different things to different Midwesterners. This tank top goes for $178, according to the website. Some of us are pulling for an Eileen Fisher outlet store to open next.)
