No. 9 West Virginia escaped with a 69-67 victory over sixth-ranked Oklahoma when Sooners star Buddy Hield's half-court shot that banked in was ruled a fraction of a second late in the Big 12 semifinals Friday night in Kansas City, Mo.

Jevon Carter scored 26 points to lead the Mountaineers (26-7), but it was Jaysean Paige whose pullup jumper over Isaiah Cousins gave them the lead back with 11.1 seconds left in the game.

Christian James missed a potential go-ahead layup at the other end, and the Sooners (25-7) fouled with 1.8 seconds left. They got another chance when West Virginia's Jonathan Holton missed one of two free throws. But replays showed Hield's shot left his fingertips a breath after time ran out.

"I thought it was good, so I went and celebrated. The gym thought it was good too," said Hield, who was held to just six points, one night after pouring in 39 in a quarterfinal victory over Iowa State. "Time wasn't on my side, I guess."

No. 1 Kansas 70, Baylor 66: Devonte Graham had 14 points for the Jayhawks (29-4), including a free throw that iced the Big 12 semifinal victory after Baylor (22-11) had closed within four points in the final minute. Perry Ellis led Kansas with 20 points.

No. 7 North Carolina 78, Notre Dame 47: The Tar Heels (27-6) scored 24 consecutive points over a 9½-minute span bridging halftime and rolled to victory in the first ACC tournament semifinal in Washington. UNC will meet No. 4 Virginia, in a game involving two potential No. 1 NCAA tournament seeds.

Seton Hall 87, No, 5 Xavier 83: Khadeen Carrington's 23 points and seven rebounds led the Pirates (24-8) to the Big East championship game for the first time since 1993 — 2½ years before he was born. They will face No. 3 Villanova, a 76-68 winner over Providence. Edmond Sumner led the second-seeded Musketeers (27-5) with 21 points.

No. 16 Kentucky 83, Alabama 61: Jamal Murray scored 23 points and Alex Poythress made a career-best four three-pointers, helping the Wildcats topple the Crimson Tide in an SEC quarterfinal in Nashville. Second-seeded Kentucky will face sixth-seeded Georgia, a 65-64 winner over South Carolina, in the semifinals.

American Athletic: Jalen Adams, who hit a three-quarter-court shot at the end of the third overtime, scored eight of his 22 points in the fourth overtime, and Connecticut topped Cincinnati 104-97 in the quarterfinals of the AAC tournament in Orlando. Cincinnati appeared to have won the game when Kevin Johnson hit a three-pointer for an 88-85 lead with less than a second left in the third OT. Daniel Hamilton led fifth-seeded UConn (22-10), which faces No. 1 seed Temple in the semis, with 32 points. … Tulane (12-21) became the first double-digit seed to beat a No. 2 seed in tournament history when it beat Houston 72-69, amid reports that Tulane is expected to release coach Ed Conroy at the end of the season.

Women's NCAA qualifiers: Ellen Nystrom's two free throws with 3.3 seconds remaining lifted No. 22 Colorado State (31-1) to a 55-54 come-from-behind victory over Fresno State in the Mountain West final in Las Vegas. … Top-seeded Albany (27-4) held off second-seeded Maine 59-58 to win the America East Conference championship for a record fifth time in a row, in Albany, N.Y.
