The skinny: A victory would give Northwestern 11 wins in a season for the first time in program history. Tennessee is looking for wins in consecutive bowl appearances for the first time since 1996 and 1997.

The stat: Northwestern sophomore RB Justin Jackson is the fifth player in school history to top 1,000 yards rushing in consecutive seasons, gaining 1,187 a year ago and 1,344 this season.

The line: Tennessee by 8 ½

Citrus Bowl

No. 14 Michigan vs. No. 19 Florida

Noon from Orlando, Fla.; Ch. 5

Records: Michigan 9-3, 6-2 Big Ten; Florida 10-3, 7-1 SEC

The skinny: Both Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and Florida coach Jim McElwain have engineered big turnarounds in the first year at their respective programs. Harbaugh said a victory would put a cap on the best year he's had in football. McElwain led the Gators to an appearance in the SEC title game.

The stat: This will be the 13th time that Michigan faces an SEC team in a bowl game. The Wolverines are 7-5.

The line: Michigan by 4 ½

Fiesta Bowl

No. 8 Notre Dame vs. No. 7 Ohio State

Records: Notre Dame 10-2, Ohio State 11-1, 7-1 Big Ten

The skinny: Two teams that were in the mix for a College Football Playoff late in the season try to close on a winning note. With numerous potential NFL players on both rosters, it could be one of the most exciting games of the bowl season.

The stat: Notre Dame junior WR Will Fuller averaged 20.5 yards per catch this season.

The line: Ohio State by 6

Rose Bowl

No. 6 Stanford vs. No. 5 Iowa

4 p.m. from Pasadena, Calif.; ESPN

Records: Stanford 11-2, 8-1 Pac-12; Iowa 12-1, 8-0 Big Ten

The skinny: The 102nd edition of the Granddaddy of Them All matches the two schools that barely missed out on the College Football Playoff. Iowa hasn't been to the Rose Bowl in 25 years, while Stanford is in Pasadena for the third time in four postseasons.

The stat: Stanford's Kevin Hogan will be the third quarterback to start three Rose Bowls, joining Ohio State's Cornelius Greene (1974-1976) and Michigan's Rick Leach (1977-1979).

The line: Stanford by 6

Sugar Bowl

No. 16 Oklahoma State vs. No. 12 Ole Miss

Records: Oklahoma State 10-2, 7-2 Big 12; Ole Miss 9-3, 6-2 SEC

The skinny: Ole Miss (No. 12 CFP) wants to prove that it's one of the better teams in the country following an up-and-down regular season. Oklahoma State (No. 16 CFP) is trying to look more like the team that won 10 games to start the season than the one that lost its final two.

The stat: Oklahoma State DE Emmanuel Ogbah is the NCAA's active career leader in sacks with 28.

The line: Ole Miss by 7 ½
