Twin Cities food co-ops are sponsoring an Eat Local Farm Tour on Saturday, July 18. The free event will open 20 Minnesota and Wisconsin farms to the general public, allowing visitors to meet directly with local producers and learn more about the local food system.
Participants will also enjoy hands-on activities at each farm stop, ranging from cooking demonstrations and wreath making to sampling honey and learning about bees.
The tour is self-guided and a tour handbook available at 11 local food co-ops. The handbook includes descriptions and hours of participating farms, maps of suggested farm clusters for farm-hopping, and local restaurant recommendations.
Most of the farms are clustered in the Stillwater and Northfield areas, with one in St. Peter, one in  Ramsey and three urban farms in Minneapolis.
