The Chicago Bulls fired Fred Hoiberg on Monday and promoted associate head coach Jim Boylen. Chicago is averaging 103.4 points — 28th in the NBA — and is 5-19.
A former Timberwolves player and executive, Hoiberg had to deal with a veteran roster that didn't fit his style early on and then injuries to key players starting in training camp. He never found his footing in Chicago, going 115-155 with one playoff appearance in three-plus seasons.
"What we're lacking … is a spirit about our team," said John Paxson, Bulls executive vice president.

Oklahoma City 110, Detroit 83: Steven Adams scored 21 points as the Thunder ended the host Pistons' winning streak at five.
Cleveland 99, Brooklyn 97: Alec Burks' dunk with 3.2 seconds left in regulation lifted the Cavaliers past the host Nets.
Washington 110, New York 107: The visiting Wizards won on Courtney Lee's three-pointer at the buzzer.
