Isaiah Washington's summer ended in spectacular fashion with a 36-point performance in the Under Armour Elite 24 game in front of his hometown fans in New York.

The four-star St. Raymond's point guard solidified his status as one of the most exciting playmakers in the 2017 class after more than holding his own against five-star guard Trevon Duval.

Washington's stock is rising, but his relationship with the Gophers remains strong, which is why he tweeted Thursday he will be making an official visit to Minnesota this weekend. Champlin Park big man Theo John will also be joining him on the visit.

Gophers assistant Kimani Young has history with Washington, who used to play for New Heights AAU program. Young was the former director of New Heights before he joined Richard Pitino's staff as an assistant at Florida International.

The Gophers in a good spot with Washington, but they also are among the final two schools for Champlin Park point guard McKinley Wright, who is visiting Dayton this weekend. Will Washington make a decision before Wright makes his announcement next Thursday? We'll probably know something soon.

John, who will team up with Wright for a potential state title run this year, doesn't appear to be as close to picking a school. But this Minnesota visit represents his last official trip.

The 6-foot-9 senior already knows a lot about the Gophers having visited campus on a number of ocassions in the last year. But this will be a different experience, he told GopherIllustrated.com Thursday.

"I know I've seen all these buildings many times, but when you are on your official visit it's different because you can get to meet the people who work in them," John said in the article.
