Former U women's basketball coach Hill-MacDonald gets D-III job

July 2, 2014 at 11:37AM

Linda Hill-MacDonald, the interim women's basketball coach at Fredonia (N.Y.) State last season, was named the head coach on Tuesday after leading the Blue Devils to a 15-10 record.

"She did an outstanding job last year as interim coach," said Greg Prechtl, the school's athletic director. "It is not every day that a college division [III] program is able to hire a coach with Big Ten, A[tlantic]-10, and WNBA experience."

Hill-MacDonald coached the Gophers from 1990 to '97, the University of Buffalo from 2005 to '12 and, in between, the WNBA's Cleveland Rockers from 1997 to '99.

The American Association baseball game between Fargo-Moorhead and the St. Paul Saints on Tuesday at Midway Stadium was suspended with two out in the bottom of the ninth because of a power failure with the visiting RedHawks ahead 10-5. It will be resumed Wednesday night. One bank of lights went out.
