The Hershey Bears advanced to the AHL Eastern Conference finals over the weekend. That might not mean much to you, but the dramatic finish will interest Gophers hockey fans or anyone interested in a good highlight.
Travis Boyd, the former Gophers standout forward (2011-2015) propelled the Bears into the next round with his game-winning overtime goal in Game 7 of the Atlantic Division finals.
Boyd skated with the puck behind the goal and then fired a wrist shot inside the left post beating a defender and the goalie. Boyd's celebration was almost as entertaining as the goal. Check out the highlight:

Boyd has two goals and four assists in 12 postseason games. He totaled 53 points (21 goals, 32 assists) during the regular season.
Boyd had a knack for scoring game-winning goals during his senior season with the Gophers and was arguably the most consistent skater on the team. He compiled a career-best 41 points and 19 goals despite missing seven games with a lower-body injury.
Boyd was drafted by the Capitals in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2011 draft and signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals.
The AHL Eastern Conference finals start Friday in Hershey.
