The Oakland Raiders' first big signing in free agency came Thursday with the addition of former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson, per multiple reports. The first to note the official deal was actually James Jones, Nelson's former teammate in Green Bay and a former Raiders receiver.

As a result of Nelson's signing, Oakland will release Michael Crabtree, per ESPN. Crabtree was set to make over $7.7 million in base salary and bonuses in 2018. His release comes with no dead money against the cap. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has singled out several players as ones that enticed him to take this job, and Crabtree was one of them. Even so, Oakland is siding with Nelson, who turns 33 in May and is coming off a down season, over the 30-year-old Crabtree.

Nelson has played for Green Bay since entering the league in 2008, amassing 550 catches, 7,848 yards, 14.3 yards per catch and 69 touchdowns since then. Nelson missed the 2015 season with a right knee injury but returned in 2016 with 97 catches, 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns. In 2017, though, Nelson only caught 53 passes for 482 yards and six touchdowns while quarterback Aaron Rodgers missed nine games because of injury.

Packers sign two

The Packers signed free agent defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson and also acquired quarterback DeShone Kizer. Kizer was acquired in a trade with the Browns for cornerback Damarious Randall.

Kizer led the NFL with 22 interceptions, went 0-15 and went through numerous growing pains as a rookie starter.

Wilkerson was selected by the Jets in the first round of the 2011 draft. In seven seasons, he played in 105 regular-season games and had 498 tackles (324 solo), 44 sacks, two interceptions, 10 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown.

In 2015, he earned a spot in the Pro Bowl after getting a career-best 12 sacks.

Dolphins sign Sitton

The Dolphins agreed to contract terms with guard Josh Sitton, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, according to ESPN.

Sitton, a 31-year-old, 10-year veteran who has played left and right guard for Green Bay and Chicago, played left guard for the Bears last year.

The Dolphins also released starting center Mike Pouncey in a move that clears $7 million in cap space.

Etc.

• Former Eagles defensive tackle Beau Allen signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Buccaneers.

• The Browns traded cornerback Jason McCourty to the Patriots, reuniting him with his brother, Devin. The Browns also sent a seventh-round pick to the Patriots to get a sixth-rounder in return.

• The Lions bolstered their linebacker group by adding Christian Jones and Devon Kennard, who were starters for the Bears and Giants, respectively, in parts of four seasons.

Tom Benson, a successful auto dealer who brought the Saints their only winning seasons and the "Benson Boogie," has died. Benson, who has also owned the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans since 2012, was 90.

• Former Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Bills.
