Former Oregon and Houston Baptist defensive back Eric Amoako announced Friday that he's transferring to Minnesota.

The 5-11, 195-pound Amoako will be eligible to play for the Gophers this fall as a graduate transfer, bolstering the team's depth at safety and at the nickel position. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Amoako was a consensus three-star recruit when he headed to Oregon out of Arlington (Texas) Martin High School in 2012. Amoako took a redshirt year and then appeared in just one game for the Ducks in 2013 before transferring to Houston Baptist.

He had 60 tackles for Houston Baptist in 2014 and 31 more in nine games last season. He announced the news that he's transferring to Minnesota on Twitter.
