Former Gophers volleyball player Daly Santana is headed to the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Santana and the Puerto Rico national team claimed the island's first-ever Olympic volleyball berth with a 25-8, 25-23, 25-15 victory over Kenya on Sunday night at Roberto Clemente Coliseum of San Juan.

Mavericks' baseball season ends

The Minnesota State Mankato baseball team lost to Arkansas Monticello 13-6 in an elimination game at the Division II Central Region in St. Cloud.

The Weevils (40-15), who beat the Mavericks (36-18) for the first time in five tries this season, must defeat Central Missouri twice on Monday to advance to the College World Series next week in Cary, N.C.

Saints sweep four-game series

Alonzo Harris and Nate Hanson hit three-run homers in a six-run fourth inning in the St. Paul Saints' 10-5 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats at CHS Field.
