Forget the Gophers and TCU, who's ready for the Taylor Heinicke show?

Rookie quarterback Tyler Heinicke out of Old Dominion is expected to start against the Titans and play the entirety of the Vikings final preseason game.

NASHVILLE — Good evening from Nashville. It's a beautiful but hot night here at what is now known as Nissan Stadium as the Vikings and Titans are warming up right now for their preseason finale.

It's my understanding that there is a pretty big college football game back in the Twin Cities tonight. I wish I could be there to watch the Gophers. Alas, my consolation prize is watching the Taylor Heinicke show.

The rookie quarterback out of Old Dominion is expected to start against the Titans and play the entirety of the game. He will be trying to convince the Vikings to carry a third quarterback into Week 1.

Many noteworthy Vikings players won't play tonight. I'm told that we could see a couple dozen guys in street clothes. That list should include Teddy Bridgewater, John Sullivan and Adrian Peterson.

When Heinicke is on the sideline, I'll have my eyes on the middle linebacker position, where Gerald Hodges, Audie Cole and rookie Eric Kendricks are still duking it out for the right to start in Week 1.

Tonight should also give Blair Walsh a chance to get back on track. Yes, this game is outside, but there is not much of a breeze out there.

Check back for more coverage after this game and the other one end.
