New stadium means more money
The football state tournament is projected to bring in nearly $1 million for the Minnesota State High School League after expenses this year when the semifinals and Prep Bowl are held at U.S. Bank Stadium. That’s significantly more than the surplus when those rounds were played in the Metrodome. It also comes after two relatively lean years playing the tournament entirely outdoors, including snow-plagued 2014. As a moneymaker for the organization, the tournament is second only to the boys’ hockey tournament.
