Foot injury may keep former Vikings quarterback Case Keenum out

September 26, 2019 at 3:16AM

Case Keenum's foot injury could put him in danger of not starting at quarterback for the Washington Redskins on Sunday against the New York Giants.

The former Vikings quarterback was listed as a nonparticipant in practice Wednesday. Because the Redskins only went through a walk-through, the injury report is an approximation of what would have happened in a full practice.

Longtime backup Colt McCoy was listed as a full participant. McCoy has been inactive the first three weeks while still dealing with the lingering effects of breaking his right leg.

If Keenum can't play, the 0-3 Redskins will either turn to McCoy or ask first-round pick Dwayne Haskins to make his NFL debut.

... Running back Melvin Gordon will end his holdout and report to the Chargers on Thursday. The running back has been absent since the start of training camp because of a contract dispute, but is not expected to play Sunday when the Chargers travel to Miami.

... Disgruntled cornerback Jalen Ramsey has left the Jaguars to be with his family for the birth of his second child. Ramsey's paternal leave — it's unclear how long he could be gone — is the latest twist in a weird week for the star cornerback, who asked to be traded last week and then called in sick on Monday and Tuesday.
