An out-of-control pickup truck passing on a western Wisconsin highway struck a car coming the other way Tuesday and killed the smaller vehicle's driver, authorities said.
The crash, which occurred about 8 a.m. on County Hwy. 1 in St. Joseph Township, killed Dawn Anderson, 37, of New Richmond, Wis., according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.
Taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul were the pickup driver, Thomas E. Geistfeld, 64, of Prescott, Wis., and his passenger, Cole J. Borowicz, 21, of River Falls, Wis. Their hospital said the men's conditions were not yet available.
According to the Sheriff's Office:
The northbound pickup, while passing another vehicle on northbound Hwy. 1, "fishtailed and went sideways" into Anderson's southbound car.
Both vehicles ended up in the ditch to the west of the highway, with the truck upside down on top of the car.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
