How did First Avenue end up with two shows Friday night -- one by an "American Idol," the other by a fallen American icon?
Club staffers had already booked alt-rock trainwreck Courtney Love and her band Hole when it became apparent that this was the only night they could squeeze in 2007 "Idol" Jordin Sparks, who had canceled a show in May. First Ave general manager Nate Kranz said he was able to do the double booking because -- believe it or not -- Sparks and Hole have the same booking agent.
There will be two hours between the shows. "We have a plan," Kranz said. "We'll load Jordin out one door and load in Courtney's stuff in the other. I have a staff and a half on duty. I'll be in Chicago [at Pitchfork Music Fest], stressing out and calling back, making sure everything is going smooth."
