This holiday season, when you were smiling and laughing with your family and friends, have you ever thought of what it would be like without any heat? Many families know what this is like all throughout the winter season. Your home would feel like an unheated shed, where the temperature drops within hours and you are left layering all the clothes you have or packing space heaters into small spaces.
Heat is not just a luxury to them; it is an essential—something they cannot live without for as long as the Minnesota winter lasts. Each year, AMi Home Services, an Air Mechanical company, thinks of these families and decides to make a difference within the community. That is how AMi Home Services teamed up with KTIS 98.5, where listeners nominate their coworkers, friends, associates, or family members in need of a new heating system.
The program is called Feel the Warmth, developed by Minneapolis-based Christian radio station KTIS 98.5. Just like the name, it gives the community hope that they can have a warm and safe winter season. Each Friday during January, a winner is chosen, and that winner will be contacted by AMi Home Services to install a brand-new heating system in their home.
How to Participate
Listeners can go to the KTIS website to nominate anyone they know with a broken or inefficient furnace who is in need of a new heating system. Fill out the application to nominate your person here. By listening every Friday at 5:30 PM on Afternoons with Andy on KTIS, you can find out if your chosen person won.

“Fred has taken in his 3 grandchildren after his daughter passed away from a drug overdose last June. Fred and the 3 children live in a house in St. Paul and their furnace went out the beginning of January. They have been using space heaters and opening the oven to heat the house. His car broke down in December and has not been able to get to work. He usually sleeps in the basement but with the furnace being out he has to sleep in the living room where it is warmer. He walks to the grocery store to buy groceries for the family. He is working with the county to get services but is currently not receiving any financial assistance. They are in desperate need of a new furnace.”
