Four people were killed Monday when their single-engine plane crashed in a western Wisconsin field.
Witnesses called the Polk County Sheriff's Office about 5:30 p.m. to report the plane crashed and that it and a field were on fire. The crash occurred near 30th Avenue and 150th Street in the town of Alden, about 20 miles southeast of Taylors Falls.
The Beechcraft plane was still burning when deputies, along with the Amery and Dresser-Osceola-Garfield fire departments, arrived. The Polk County medical examiner removed the bodies and they were taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office in Anoka County for autopsies and identification.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash. Additional details are expected to be released on Tuesday.
