DULUTH – A Duluth man accused of a fatal hit-and-run has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide.
Alexander Logan Keller, 35, had argued with Mathias Turbes, 37, and a woman in Gary New Duluth early Thursday. According to a criminal complaint in St. Louis County Court, the woman went into her house and later received a text message from Keller.
“How’s [Turbes] feeling,” Keller asked, then referred to the two with an expletive.
She responded that she had not seen Turbes and continued to argue with Keller over text messages, according to the complaint.
At 6 that morning, neighbors found Turbes dead in the street. The woman told officers at the scene about the argument over property that was supposed to be split between the three.
Keller was arrested at his girlfriend’s home in Superior, Wis. His girlfriend told officers that he had come over in the early hours Thursday and told her he had gotten into a fight with Taubes and that when he drove away in his SUV, he “hit [Turbes] pretty good.”
Keller is held in Superior’s Douglas County jail. He has no violent crimes from Minnesota on his record.
