Odegard's rug sale (219 N. 2nd St., Mpls., 612-455-6100) starts Tuesday and runs through Oct. 3. This is always a good sale, especially if you prefer contemporary designs, which seem to be more difficult to find of late. About 1,000 rugs will be discounted 50 to 70 percent. I could not confirm sale prices, but in the past they have ranged from $500 to $3,300 for a 6- by 9-foot rug, $750 to $4,800 for 8- by 10-foot, and $1,000 to $6,400 for 9- by 12-foot. Sale rugs include prototypes, overstocks and discontinued styles. Stephanie Odegard, now a New Yorker, designs the rugs and has them hand-knotted in Nepal and Tibet. Her rugs are produced without child or forced labor.
Rosenberg's sample saleBy request, David Rosenberg is adding slightly more upscale brands to the mix of moderate clothing for women, men and juniors and boys sportswear. The sample sale on fall/winter clothing will include the usual assortment of clothing, accessories and jewelry discounted as much 70 to 80 percent off wholesale prices. Men's and women's leather jackets will be $150, regularly up to $600. This sale will also have a more extensive selection of women's plus sizes in 1X, 2X and 3X. The sale is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at 11525 Excelsior Blvd., Minnetonka, 612-343-3221.
Bibelot's 20 percent off storewide saleTwenty percent might not seem like a huge discount to hardcore salers, but when everything in the store is 20 percent off, it makes up for it. That's what's happening during Bibelot's anniversary sale Friday and Saturday. All gifts, clothing, jewelry, paper and home goods are discounted 20 percent. Spend $100 or more and get a $10 gift card at the four locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul (651-646-5651 and www.bibelotshops.com). The discount is also honored online.
