Farm fatalities highest in Midwest

From 2003 to 2013, Iowa led the nation in farm deaths. Altogether, the Midwest accounted for 44 percent of the 4,863 people who died in work-related farming accidents in that period. The Midwest also generated some of the highest fatality rates. Washington, which is one of three states that enforces workplace safety rules on small farms, had the nation's lowest fatality rate.
