The event will have World War II War birds to include T6�s, B25, Tri Motor other aircraft like observation and many home built planes to view and take pictures of during Blaine Aviation Weekend. Both days start with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Anoka Composite Squadron, Color Guard presentation of the colors is scheduled for 9 a.m., Saturday. Lunch will be at noon. The 1940s Saturday evening dance will be held at Golden Wings Museum with music starting at 8 p.m. Dave Andrew�s Big Band will feature the sights and sounds of the 1940s. Breakfast and lunch also will be served Sunday. Helicopter rides, homebuilt, vintage and war-bird aircraft on display and model airplane demonstrations are additional events scheduled during Blaine Aviation Weekend. The World War II T6�s and other airplanes will be leaving from the Anoka County-Blaine Airport to do flyovers of the airport on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday My 17th. The flyovers are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The CAP Anoka Composite Squadron and other CAP Minnesota Wing members will be marshalling aircraft within their parking areas both days. The CAP will also have games for the children and a display with information for the young people along with a CAP airplane. The CAP Minnesota Wing consists of 25 squadrons located in every area of the state, with more then 1,200 senior and cadet members and 17 light aircraft. Saturday-next Sunday: If you love airplanes, history or pancakes, then fly to the Blaine Aviation Weekend. See 25 historic aircraft on display, including World War II military planes. There will be model aircraft displays and flying demonstrations, seminars and a guest speaker. A pancake breakfast and lunch will be offered. Take the opportunity to go on an airplane or helicopter ride and watch historic planes in flight. Come Saturday evening for the Hangar Dance to enjoy the swinging 1940s-style sounds of Dave Andrew's Big Band. Refreshments will be available. Period dress is encouraged but not mandatory.
