A day after Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg married his girlfriend of nearly a decade, Priscilla Chan, nearly 900,000 people had "liked" his updated status. The couple married Saturday at his Palo Alto, Calif., home in front of fewer than 100 stunned guests who thought they would be attending a party to celebrate Chan's graduation from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, where she'd studied pediatrics.
Within hours, wedding details were being reported, including that Zuckerberg gave his bride a ring he had designed with one ruby. TMZ reported that Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong performed a "touching love song" after the wedding, and that there was plenty of upbeat recorded music all night -- including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Flo Rida, and Bon Jovi.
Food was served family-style and included dishes from the couple's favorite Palo Alto sushi restaurant.
The wedding came one day after Zuckerberg took Facebook public in one of the most anticipated stock offerings in Wall Street history. He met Chan at Harvard, where he founded Facebook in a dorm room in 2004.
Blair calls for understanding amid heckles
A handful of protesters briefly interrupted a Maine college graduation speech by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair calling for world unity. Blair addressed more than 400 Colby College graduates and their guests Sunday morning at the school's 191st commencement in Waterville. Police say the protesters shouted phrases such as "warmonger" and "war criminal" during Blair's speech. One person was arrested. In his address, Blair appealed for international cooperation and for people to try to understand other cultures. Blair, who served from 1997 to 2007 as the Labor Party's longest-serving prime minister, supported the U.S. war in Iraq.
