The Greater Twin Cities United Way's Emerging Leaders staged a Parisian scene last month to raise money and awareness.

Glittery top hats, feather boas and a model of the Eiffel Tower set the stage for a tasting of French wines. The ballroom at the Marriott City Center in downtown Minneapolis brimmed with cabaret spirit (or as much cabaret as a suit-wearing young professional crowd can muster up).

The decade-old group has 14,000 members (membership is free).

"The goal is to spark change in the community and work with the United Way to eliminate poverty," said Bryce White, chairman of the Emerging Leaders.

They participate in volunteer projects, fund raising and leadership training opportunities, including learning how to participate on nonprofit boards. A Valentine's party at Courage Center is planned for this week.

These emerging leaders are united for their cause.
