It takes all types to make a movie: actors, writers, producers, critics and fans, to name a few. Entertainment aficionados gathered at the W Minneapolis -- The Foshay for the Minnesota Film and TV Board's Black and White Ball last weekend. The formal dress code was clear, and so was the mission. "It's about dressing up, celebrating and raising money," said Lucinda Winter, the organization's executive director. The board operates as a nonprofit with a clear goal: "We connect Minnesota and Minnesotans with work in the industry," she said.

It took a minute to figure out how WCCO sports director Mark Rosen was cast in the role of host. His ties to the industry, however, run deep -- his father worked for Paramount; his cousin (Sam Rosen) is an actor who appears in the upcoming films "Nobody" and "Four Boxes," and his son is also in the movie business.

BLING FLING

The crowd at the St. Paul Junior League's Blue Jeans & Bling fundraiser Feb. 28 was much older than the usual clientele at the Children's Museum. Billed as a "grown-up play date," the party proved that you're never too old to play dress-up and dance all night.
