What do big hair, the moonwalk and Rubik's Cube have in common? They're all part of the "me decade" of the 1980s.
Just when you think that's all a part of the past, the Walker Art Center decides to celebrate the era.
As part of its current exhibition "This Will Have Been: Art, Love and Politics in the 1980s," the Walker turned one of its Open Field summer series into an homage to the Reagan era.
The crowd included those who witnessed the decade firsthand and those who had only heard about it.
"We were alive in the '80s, but we weren't old enough to appreciate it," said Annie Erickson. "This is our chance to live it up and be our older sisters."
That created challenges of its own, however.
"I was in elementary school," said Kerstin Beyer. "So I wasn't sure what a grown woman wore in the '80s."
From the looks of all of the splashes of neon, crimped hair and shades, she -- and everyone else -- figured it out.
