A former massage therapist who pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual misconduct involving clients at an Eden Prairie spa is prohibited from providing alternative health care, according to a November order by the state Department of Health.
The Office of Unlicensed Complementary and Alternative Health Care Practice permanently revoked the rights of Joshua Bob Roulet, of St. Cloud, to practice massage and body work as well as other types of alternative care.
In November 2009, Roulet was sentenced to one year in the Hennepin County workhouse and eight years' probation. He was also required to register as a predatory offender and cannot work as a massage therapist. He was released from custody in July, the order said.
The state health department does not license massage therapists or other types of alternative health care providers, but it is responsible for investigating allegations of misconduct and restricting a provider's right to practice to protect the public. State law outlines a definition of complementary and alternative health care practices here.
