It's been 27 years since Kevin Bacon's Ren McCormack moved from big-city Chicago to small-town Bomont and, armed only with a soundtrack featuring Kenny Loggins, Bonnie Tyler and Deniece Williams, danced the repression right out of the conservative townies who banned pop music but not book-burning.

Part "Rebel Without a Cause" and part "Pollyanna," "Footloose" combined bad movie clichés with renegade proms, a game of chicken on tractors and the latest in technology -- the Walkman.
