The Oscar Experience
Make your own red carpet entrance at the 22nd annual Oscar Experience — the Twin Cities' only Academy-sanctioned event. A ticket includes the live Oscar telecast, raffle prizes, hors d'oeuvres, live music and a silent auction. A VIP ticket includes a three-course meal, swag bag and private seating, with proceeds benefiting the Aegis Foundation and Twin Cities Film Fest. Black-tie is technically optional, but dressing up is kind of the point, isn't it? (5-11 p.m. Sun. $50-$150. Marriott Minneapolis City Center, 30 S. 7th St., Mpls. aegisfoundationinc.org.)
Minneapolis Movie Bears
LGBT social group the Minneapolis Movie Bears is back with its sixth annual free Oscar party at the Chatterbox in St. Paul. Plan on an Oscar trivia contest, giveaways and a silent auction with proceeds going toward the Minnesota AIDS Walk. (5 p.m. Sun. Free. Chatterbox Pub, 800 S. Cleveland Av., St. Paul. 651-699-1154.)
Brit's Pub
Another free option is at Brit's, where they'll show the ABC telecast on a big screen in their clubhouse lounge. There will be drink and food specials, a guess-the-winners competition and free popcorn. (5 p.m. Sun. Free. Brit's Pub, 1110 Nicollet Mall, Mpls. 612-332-3908.)
