THURSDAY

Naked Girls Reading: The Hangover

The Naked Girls Reading are back with another edition of their racy literary series. For the uninitiated, the concept is as simple as it sounds: naked girls, reading — with strategically placed books. This month's event celebrates booze and books, including stories of drunken debauchery, hangover cures, New Year's memories and favorite cocktail recipes. Readers include Naked Girls producer and burlesque starlet Queenie von Curves along with Sassy von Stradler and Stella Rosa. What better way to nurse your New Year's Eve hangover? (7 p.m. Thu. $15-$20. Bryant-Lake Bowl, 810 W. Lake St., Mpls. 612-825-8949. www.bryantlakebowl.com.) Jahna Peloquin

FRIDAY-SUNDAY

Land O' Lakes Kennel Club Dog Show

Christopher Guest's mockumentary "Best in Show" skewered the tradition of the dog show. Experience the real deal at the annual Land O'Lakes Kennel Club Dog Show. More than 2,000 purebred dogs spanning 155 breeds will descend upon St. Paul's RiverCentre to be judged on obedience and appearance in a variety of competitions, per the standards of the American Kennel Club. The top dog will take the honor of "Best in Show." Dog owners should check out the vendor booths, where more than 70 vendors will sell everything from canine apparel and pet supplies to dog art and collectibles. (8 a.m.-7 p.m. Fri., 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sat., 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Sun. $4.50-$8.50. RiverCentre, 175 W. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul. 651-265-4800. www.rivercentre.org.) J.P.

SUNDAY

Make Believe It's New Year's Eve Service Industry Bash

We feel for the service industry. Sure, they made bank slinging drinks and dinner plates on New Year's Eve, but they also missed out on the fun. Fortunately, the Pourhouse is hosting a belated New Year's Eve bash just for them. The night includes DJ sets from Ben Quam, Dudley D and Mad Mardigan, a champagne toast at midnight, hors d'oeuvres and — most importantly — all-you-can-drink with an optional $40 passport. Whether you're a bartender or server or just looking for an excuse to relive New Year's Eve, this is where the party's at on Sunday night. Trust us, these guys and gals know how to throw down. (9 p.m. Sun. Free. The Pourhouse, 10 S. 5th St., Mpls. www.vitalculture.com.) J.P.
