Easy pickings for the cops in this no-left-turn zone

The phrase "fish in a barrel" comes to mind.

Real estate is the cause of so many of our woes, and now it's leading to traffic tickets in downtown Minneapolis. How, you ask? Well, work on an apartment building at Portland and Washington Avenues has closed off some westbound lanes, and during rush hour, westbound drivers are now forbidden from turning left onto southbound Portland. Roadguy colleagues with a view of the action have witnessed numerous traffic stops from their aerie, and one colleague's boyfriend got an actual ticket, not just a warning.

The no-left-turn sign is right under the signal, not very large and enhanced by only a wan little flag, so be sure to look for it if you're in the area. Otherwise, get ready for the bright lights and undivided attention of Minneapolis' finest.
