A strong earthquake struck just offshore of Eureka, California at 12:20 p.m.

PST Thursday.

The magnitude-6.0 quake was approximately 50 miles to the west-southwest of Eureka, 7 miles below the surface of the Pacific Ocean.

Experts at the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center do not believe this quake has generated a tsunami.

Thus far, there are no reports of damage or injuries.

A 6.5-magnitude quake shook the same general area on January 9, 2010.
